Co-president and CEO, Rady Children’s HealthCHOC, part of Rady Children’s Health, is thrilled to announce the opening of the Southwest Tower, a nine-story, state-of-the-art outpatient facility designed just for patients and their families.
The Southwest Tower in Orange brings together more than 25 specialty clinics, thoughtfully designed care spaces and cutting-edge technology within a vibrant, family-friendly environment intended to make visits easier and more comfortable.
Important Note
In the coming weeks, many CHOC clinics and services will move to the new Southwest Tower. Your care team will notify you if your appointment is in the new location, and will give you all the details — including parking, directions and check-in tips. Please arrive 30 minutes early to allow time for parking and navigating the space.
Please only visit the Southwest Tower if you have a scheduled appointment. We want to ensure every patient and family has a calm, efficient visit. If your child needs care here in the future, we look forward to welcoming you to our new space.
Building Hope from the Ground Up
Inspired by our belief in giving every child a chance to thrive, we’ve created moments throughout the building to spark imagination, encourage learning and bring joy to our patients and their families. The interior spaces are bright, open and colorful to create a welcoming environment. Each floor has its own unique theme, helping to encourage learning, discovery, creativity and collaboration.
The new tower also has many high-tech features, including an advanced telemedicine system, interactive screens for patients and staff, and digital check-in kiosks.
First Floor
Choco Theme: Let’s Be Healthy
Services: Outpatient imaging
The lobby includes waiting and gathering spaces, concierge check-in stations, wall-integrated digital check-in stations and vending options. This first-of-its kind dedicated pediatric outpatient imaging center includes a “Kitten Scanner,” a pint-sized play version of a CT scan machine, where kids can learn through play about their test.

Services: Retail pharmacy, Orthopedic Institute, orthopedic rehabilitation, lobby, gift shop, grab-and-go café and other family-centered amenities including vending options
The Orthopedic Institute has state-of-the-art imaging capabilities and 17 exam rooms, including two that also can serve as treatment rooms for children with bone, joint and muscle conditions and injuries. The orthopedic rehabilitation gym features over a dozen therapy stations in a beautiful space, with room for private exams and consultations and the opportunity for group or individual therapy.

Services: Hyundai Cancer Institute at CHOC, outpatient infusion center and infusion pharmacy
The fourth floor centralizes the Hyundai Cancer Institute at CHOC and the outpatient infusion center on a single, shared floor that provides patients and families a calm and engaging environment for cancer treatment. Our infusion center also treats acute and chronic illnesses including blood or genetic disorders, metabolic diseases, gastrointestinal and endocrine disorders, and sees hematology patients for blood product support and immune therapy, as well as patients from rheumatology, neurology, nephrology, pulmonology and from general clinics who require infusion support such as hydration.

Services: Endocrinology, hematology, infectious disease, metabolic disorders, rheumatology, pediatric general surgery, nephrology and gastroenterology
Each year, the CHOC diabetes program diagnoses and treats over 3,000 Type 1 diabetes patients and 800 Type 2 diabetes patients. The CHOC metabolic disorders team was the first to identify some of the rarest diseases and for some diseases, we offer the only specialized treatment programs on the West Coast.

Services: Craniofacial, orthodontics, plastic surgery, genetics, dermatology, high-risk infant follow-up program, interventional radiology

Services: Pulmonology, RSV (respiratory syncytial virus), pulmonary function testing
The pulmonology team provides innovative programs and specialized treatments for a variety of conditions, including asthma, chronic lung disease, cystic fibrosis, primary ciliary dyskinesia and sleep disorders.

Services: Research and innovation
The CHOC Research Institute uses ground-breaking techniques and innovative technologies to allow children to access trailblazing care close to home. Through Science on Display windows, children and families can watch and learn about CHOC research by looking directly into the Wet Lab and a Maker Space from the lobby and waiting areas. The Research Institute has more than 120 modular research stations, a Human Performance Lab that offers highly specialized research to help children with movement disorders, and modern experimental drug compounding and tissue culture space.

It houses more than 25 specialty clinics and modern amenities for patients, families and staff. Its unique bright and spacious design was intentionally made to foster connection and creativity.
Where is the new CHOC outpatient tower located?
The new outpatient tower is located on CHOC’s main campus in Orange, at the corner of Main Street and CHOC Court, next to the 22 freeway. The building address is: 555 S Main St., Orange, CA 92868.
When does the new tower open?
Most services will begin in the tower in mid-June, with some services opening later in the summer.

Are there any family amenities in the new tower?
The second floor offers a Family Resource Center, café and gift shop. Each floor of the new CHOC tower also features spacious lobbies with interactive play stations and vending areas. Several floors include lounge areas, charging stations and lactation rooms.
Directions and Parking
The new outpatient tower is located on CHOC’s main campus in Orange, at the corner of Main Street and CHOC Court, next to the 22 freeway.
Patient and visitor parking is available in the Southwest Tower parking structure next to the building. Valet parking is available for an additional cost. Southwest Tower is cashless; all major credit cards and mobile payments are accepted.
