Mental Health Inpatient Center patient experience
This short video will describe what a patient in the Mental Health Inpatient Center at CHOC Hospital can expect upon admission.
As you arrive at the front entry to the Bill Holmes Tower, you will continue past the valet to the parking structure located at the end of the entryway drive.
Once you have parked, you will proceed to Julia and George Argyros Emergency Department at CHOC, located around the corner from the main entryway to the Bill Holmes Tower.
You will need to check into the Emergency Department first to be evaluated. If admitted, you will be escorted down the North Tunnel towards the end of the hallway with the double doors. Once you go through the double doors, you will continue down the hallway to the Mental Health Inpatient Center elevators, where you will then proceed to the Mental Health Inpatient Center.
As you arrive to the front desk, a staff member will greet you to assist with your personal belongings and help to get you checked in.
From the main lobby, you will be escorted to an admitting room where your vitals will be taken and you will have an opportunity to remove your hospital gown and transition back into your regular clothing.
You will then be given a tour of the Mental Health Inpatient Center, which includes activity room and classrooms, a dining room, living area pods and bathrooms, a consultation room, and a family activity room.
