Emergency Department treatment at CHOC Hospital
This short video will describe what you can expect while receiving care in the Julia and George Argyros Emergency Department at CHOC Hospital.
Once an exam room is available in the treatment area, you and your child will be brought back to be evaluated by an emergency department physician.
A nurse will show you and your child around the exam room and point out a white board with the names of your child’s nurse and physician.
The nurse will also ask you to help change your child into a gown for their exam.
When the physician and nurse come in, they will talk to you about the plan of care and let you know approximately how long it will take.
After the tests are done and your child has received the care they need, the nurse will discuss discharge instructions with you.
However, if your child needs further treatment requiring an overnight stay in the hospital, the nurse will discuss the admission process and next steps.
