Remembering Dr. Nick Anas

Join us in remembering Dr. Nick Anas, senior vice president and physician-in-chief, CHOC.

A nationally recognized expert, Dr. Nick Anas was board-certified in both pediatric critical care and pediatric pulmonary medicine. In addition to serving as principal investigator on several clinical research projects, he authored numerous articles in prestigious medical journals and pediatric critical care textbooks.

Dr. Anas joined CHOC’s medical staff in 1984 and was appointed medical director of the pediatric intensive care unit in 1991. A year later, he launched the CHOC-Harbor UCLA Pediatric Critical Care Fellowship Program, playing a key role in training future generations of pediatric specialists.

Dr. Anas leaves an inspiring legacy. Thousands of young lives, across multiple generations, have forever been changed for the better because of him. We honor Dr. Anas by continuing his great work and commitment to excellence.

Throughout his decades-long service to CHOC, Dr. Nick Anas expanded numerous programs and services to meet the needs of children and families in the community. He recruited some of the nation’s leading pediatric experts to CHOC. And he fostered numerous collaborations with hospital partners to advance pediatric treatments, research and education. His work outside of CHOC was equally impressive and guided by his devotion to preserving the magic of childhood.

• Nick G. Anas Endowment for Pediatric Intensive Care to advance pediatric intensive care through research and education under the direction of the PICU Medical Director, and/or
• Nick G. Anas Simulation Center, designed to enhance medical education with the goal of elevating care and safety
