Bud – Emma’s dad and caregiver: Everything that is good in the world. Everything that I want for myself and for my wife and for everybody that I know and love. Emma has all of that in her.

Bud: She’s my heart in human form. She’s got the happy and the heavy. She’s got the joy and the jagged edges. Every aspect of her leads up to this complete person. And not just the diagnosis and not just the smiles. It’s sort of everything and everything in between.
Title: Everything in Between
Bud: A caregiver is someone who continually makes the decision to pay attention to the things that they love. Emma teaches me how to pay attention to the most important things. Her worth isn’t something that is dependent on her ability to do something. It’s something that she has, and we just have to be willing to see that. The staff, including doctors, nurses, everyone that we’ve come in contact with, sees and treats Emma, my wife, myself as complete people. Anything that we’ve needed, Rady Children’s Health has provided for us. They have helped us be the kind of parents that Emma needs us to be. I really don’t know of anything more special than having somebody who, just in her own way, is everything that you could want for anybody that you love.
