“Southwest Tower – Your Outpatient Infusion Center visit” Transcript
Welcome! This short video will explain what you and your child can expect during
visits to the Outpatient Infusion Center at the Southwest Tower.
After checking in for your appointment on the second floor, follow the signs to the
Outpatient Infusion Center on the fourth floor.
Your child will be called back to check their height, weight and vital signs.
Your child will have an assigned room. A nurse will review the infusion visit and talk
with you about central line access or starting an IV.
The Outpatient Infusion Center has an ultrasound machine for more complex IV
access. The nurse may use an infusion pump to administer medicine or blood
products.
A nurse practitioner or physician may stop by to see your child and answer any
questions you have. The length of the visit depends on the medicine or procedure
your child is receiving.
Lunch will be provided if your child’s infusion or procedure takes an extended
period of time. Snacks are also available.
Infusion of medicine may make your child feel sick.
Once your child’s procedure is complete, stop by the front desk to schedule their
next appointment, if needed.
