Child Abuse Pediatrics
Our faculty includes five board-certified child abuse pediatricians and one board-certified general pediatrician, all with expertise in child abuse pediatrics. Our pediatricians provide patient care and/or clinical guidance at Rady Children’s Hospital in Orange County and Rady Children’s Hospital at Mission, the Mrs. Cari Peets and Family Resilience Clinic, UCI Medical Center, Child Abuse Services Team (CAST), and Miller Children’s & Women’s Hospital.
Depending on the site, referrals may come from community agencies, medical professionals, and/or families. At all the locations where our pediatricians provide services, the division receives support from hospital social workers.
Our pediatricians also serve as faculty physician educators at the UCI School of Medicine, Rady Children’s Health in Orange County, and Miller Children’s and Women’s Hospital. These experienced physicians are training the next generation of medical students, nurse practitioner students, and pediatric and family medicine residents through rotations with the Child Abuse Service Team, and they lead trainings and conferences for community agencies, sub-specialists, and other professionals who work with children.
The work of these physicians reaches across Orange County and the surrounding region. The team coordinates with law enforcement, social services, county prosecutors, victim advocates, court services, community mental health, and primary care physicians to meet the needs of children and families.
