CHOC Hospital, Orange
1201 W. La Veta Ave.
Orange, CA 92868
For hospitalized patients:
- Three individuals (two parents/guardians and an additional individual, which can include a sibling 12 years and older) who are well will be permitted to visit during this time. Visiting hours are from 8 a.m.–8 p.m. daily. Only parents/guardians will be permitted after hours.
- Siblings younger than 12 years are not permitted with the exception of siblings who are breastfeeding. They are permitted in patient rooms for feedings during visiting hours.
- For extended hospitalizations, parents (or patients 18 and older) may complete a visitor restriction exemption form, listing four surrogate names. This form will be provided by your inpatient nurse, who will assist you in completing it. For your child’s safety, there can be no more than three individuals at the bedside. Surrogate names will not be changed for the duration of the admission.
- Proper hand hygiene is necessary each time you enter and exit the patient’s room.
- Patients in isolation and their parents/guardians will not be allowed to visit the playrooms or other patient rooms. Child life specialists have activities that can be brought to the isolation rooms.
- When the patient is visiting public areas in the hospital (given approval from the patient’s physician), please remember to use good hand hygiene and stay at least 3 feet away from others.
For non-hospital visits:
For visits to the lab, radiology, rehabilitation, surgical waiting area, OPI, clinics or ED, we encourage one adult to accompany the child. Please avoid bringing extra family members to appointments and waiting areas.
We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause and appreciate your partnership in helping us to protect all of the children and families we serve.

How We Identify Patients, Parents, Visitors and Employees
Parent and Visitor Identification
All parents, guardians and visitors must check in and obtain a visitor badge every day in the main lobby. Parents/guardians will also receive a special armband to wear which must be worn and visible to identify them. If the band comes off or is lost, notify nursing staff to replace the band immediately.
Patient Identification
CHOC patients are required to wear identification bands for safety and security reasons. If the band comes off or is lost, notify nursing staff to replace the band immediately.
Employee Identification
All of our employees and staff physicians wear a hospital badge so they can be easily identified. It’s a good idea to become familiar with the hospital staff working in the unit where your child is staying. Do not leave your child with anyone who is not wearing a CHOC identification badge or without knowing where your child will be taken and how long the tests will take. Please notify the nurse immediately if you see any unfamiliar person(s) entering your child’s bedspace or asking about your child.
