Critical Care

When a life-threatening situation arises, CHOC critical care physicians are available 24-hours-a-day, seven days a week to provide comprehensive services for acutely ill or seriously injured children and adolescents. Around the clock, CHOC’s transport team is available to bring children in from other facilities to receive the pediatric expertise they can only get at CHOC.

CHOC helped pioneer extracorporeal membrane support as one of the first institutions to use it more than 40 years ago. Today, we are one of 46 centers in the world to receive a three-year designation as an Extracorporeal Life Support Organization Center of Excellence and we provide the only ECLS transport unit in Southern California.
