Dr. Katherine Nielsen, MD, is a board-certified pediatrician at SOCPA Rancho Santa Margarita, specializing in the health and well-being of children. Practicing in Pediatrics since 2016, she provides comprehensive, family-centered care for infants, children and teens. Dr. Nielsen also visits newborns at Mission/CHOC at Mission Hospital, Hoag Hospital Irvine, and Saddleback Hospital.
Dr. Nielsen is particularly passionate about adolescent mental health, completing the UCI School of Medicine Primary Care Psychiatry Fellowship in 2024. As a member of the Rady Children’s Health Primary Care Network, she is part of a nationally recognized pediatric health system to deliver coordinated care and streamline access to specialty care and additional services when necessary.
Dr. Nielsen is a Fellow of the American Academy of Pediatrics and is currently completing her Master of Public Health degree with a focus on epidemiology, immunizations, and preventive health. Her research interests include vaccine education and immunization outcomes, as well as e-bike safety and injury prevention, reflecting her commitment to improving long-term health outcomes for children and adolescents.
