What is sustainability?

As defined by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), sustainability is based on a simple principle: Everything that we need for our survival and well-being depends, either directly or indirectly, on our natural environment.

To pursue sustainability is to create and maintain the conditions under which humans and nature can exist in productive harmony to support present and future generations.

Our Commitment to Environmental Sustainability

Reducing our hospital’s environmental impact aligns with the organizational commitment to advance hope, health, and healing for the kids we serve.

By reducing waste and improving operational efficiencies, we aim to create a healthier hospital environment that supports the well being of the patients and families inside our walls and in the communities they return to.

Our Position Statement

Driven by the connection between children’s health and a healthy environment, we commit to creating a healthcare model that incorporates environmental sustainability aligned with our mission to protect children’s health and patient safety.
