“It is an opportunity to make sure that every child gets to have the same amount of care and the same amount of fun at the doctor’s as I did.”

At the age of one, the discovery of a tumor in Sabrina’s kidney led her straight to CHOC. The compassionate care she received as a patient left a lasting mark. This positive experience sparked the desire to work at CHOC and contribute to a community that gave so much to her. Through arts, crafts and laughter, she inspires joy in every patient and family member who comes through our doors.

“The Art of Care at CHOC” Transcript
It is an opportunity to make sure that every child gets to have the same amount of care and the same amount of fun at the doctor’s as I did. It’s always been very important to me to be able to give back to CHOC in that sense because they took care of me, so now I get to help them take care of everyone else.
My journey with CHOC actually started when I was about one year old. They found a tumor in my kidney and I ended up going to CHOC.
The thing that really stuck with me from my experience with CHOC as a patient that made me want to work here was that it was such a positive, fun and loving environment. I get to have a hand in making sure that the kids have the same kind of experience that I did.
Whether it’s putting their names on a little clover or telling us what they’re thankful for during Thanksgiving. It gives them something to do while they’re waiting and it’s a fun thing to see grow.
I am happy to come to work every day just to know that I am able to create that fun environment for anybody that comes through the door.
Working at CHOC, to me, is one of the most fulfilling things I can do. It is the biggest and greatest opportunity I’ve ever had to give back to a community that has given so much to me.
