Dr. Chris Koutures, MD, FAAP, attended medical school at University of Wisconsin-Madison. He completed both his internship and his residency at University of Wisconsin-Madison. He performed a fellowship at the University of California, San Diego in sports medicine. Dr. Koutures is American Board of Pediatrics certified in both general pediatrics and sports medicine and practices both specialties in Anaheim, CA. He is a member of the CHOC Concussion Program.
He fulfilled a lifetime dream with his selection as team physician for the USA Volleyball and Table Tennis teams at the 2008 Olympics in Beijing, China. He also worked with USA Volleyball and the US Olympic Committee at the 2007 Pan American Games in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.
He currently serves as team physician for: US Men’s National Volleyball Team (2008 Olympic Gold Medalists), Cal State University Fullerton Intercollegiate Athletics, Orange Lutheran and Northwood (Irvine) High Schools.
Dr. Koutures is an elected member of the American Academy of Pediatrics Executive Committee on Sports Medicine and Fitness, has authored many medical publications and speaks regularly on sports medicine topics around the country. He regularly delivers sports medicine lectures and mentors residents at CHOC Hospital in Orange and is the medical director for the Athletic Training Education Program at Cal State Fullerton.
Dr. Koutures is still a dedicated athlete with particular interest in mountain biking when not doing yoga with his wife or chasing after their three children.
