“Thompson Autism and Neurodevelopmental Center at CHOC – Parent Testimonials” Transcript
Desiree: My son is Asher and he’s six years old. We’ve been at the center for about a year and a half. We’ve had a lot of help with his sleep issues. He went from sleeping three to five hours a night inconsistently to sleeping about eight or nine hours through the night.
Chrystal: We came here because after a while she became very aggressive with her behaviors. I have lost several big screen TVs. I’ve had holes in my wall. I’ve had damage in her bedroom due to anger.
Karla: She had very bad behavior and was very aggressive. Pulling hair. Bitting. Throwing herself on the floor. Hitting. It was a really hard time for all of us.
Chrystal: We now have a house we can live in where she’s not damaging everything.
Karla: Now I can enjoy watching a show and she’s just right there playing. Before it was impossible. She used to bite my arms, but now you can see I don’t have any scratches or bruises. No bite marks. I used to have a lot.
Desiree: Having a severely autistic son has been one of the most challenging things I’ve ever been through in my life. The amount of grief that comes with that can be overwhelming. Knowing that I’ve got this center now as my partner and my family and knowing that my son will always be taken care of and not ignored – the impact has been enormous for us. I’m just so grateful.
