Mental Health Inpatient Center parent/guardian experience
This short video will describe what a parent or guardian can expect when their child is admitted to the Mental Health Inpatient Center at CHOC Hospital.
As you arrive at the front entry to the Bill Holmes Tower, you will continue past the valet to the parking structure located at the end of the entryway drive.
Once you have parked, you will proceed to Julia and George Argyros Emergency Department at CHOC, located around the corner from the main entryway to the Bill Holmes Tower.
You will need to check into the Emergency Department first to be evaluated. If admitted, you and your child will be escorted down the North Tunnel towards the end of the hallway with the double doors. Once you go through the double doors, you will continue down the hallway to the Mental Health Inpatient Center elevators, where you will then proceed to the Inpatient Mental Health Center.
Once you arrive at the Mental Health Inpatient Center, you will be escorted to the main lobby where you can place your belongings into one of the provided lockers.
A unit assistant will greet you to inform you of the visitation process as well as advise on what may or may not be brought into the center.
You will then be given a tour of the Mental Health Inpatient Center, which includes activity room and classrooms, a dining room, living area pods and bathrooms, a consultation room, and a family activity room.
