Dr. Hira Ahmad is a board-certified pediatric general and thoracic surgeon at CHOC in Orange County, California. As an expert in pediatric surgery, Dr. Ahmad cares for babies, children, and teens with a wide variety of complex surgical conditions. She specializes in treating congenital colorectal anomalies, including anorectal malformations and Hirschsprung disease, as well as inflammatory bowel disease, neonatal congenital anomalies, and minimally invasive and robotic surgery.
Dr. Ahmad is actively involved in building and expanding CHOC’s congenital colorectal, IBD, and robotics programs under the mentorship of Dr. Don Shaul. Her efforts focus on improving access to advanced surgical care and fostering a multidisciplinary approach to complex conditions.
Her research interests include the long-term clinical outcomes of patients with anorectal malformations and Hirschsprung disease, feeding difficulties, and innovations in robotic surgery. Her research and collaborations have led to impactful presentations and publications that contribute to advancing pediatric surgical care.
