Contacting The CHOC Cancer Institute is easy. Simply call (714) 532-8636 and you can set up a timely appointment. You can either contact us for an initial diagnosis or for a second opinion.
Once you make an appointment, you will be seen by an oncologist (a cancer specialist). You may also undergo several diagnostic tests to help our specialists make or confirm a diagnosis. A member of our nursing staff and a social worker will also be at this initial consultation. A follow-up appointment will then be arranged.
You and your child will attend another conference, where patients and families meet the care team, including the oncologists, social workers, case managers, dieticians, child life specialists, psychologists, nurses and other staff members who will be involved in your care. At this consultation, you will receive a “road map” of your individualized treatment plan to give you an idea about the type and length of therapy. Arrangements will then be made for either hospitalization or care in our Outpatient Clinic.
The following are other important things to know:
Second Opinion Process
The CHOC Cancer Institute welcomes the opportunity to provide second opinions. To set up a second opinion appointment, please call (714) 532-8636. You will be asked to bring your medical records with you.

At The CHOC Cancer Institute, we welcome referrals from your primary care physician. We keep in close contact with referring physicians, and send you back to your primary care doctor once treatment is complete. Your physician can call (714) 516-4348 for more information.
