A nationally recognized expert in pediatric neuromuscular diseases, Dr. Sam Rosenfeld specializes in spina bifida, muscular dystrophy, scoliosis, cerebral palsy, hydrocephalus, spasticity other pediatric neuromuscular diseases and rehabilitation. He was the first orthopedic surgeon on the West Coast to use a remote control device, with minimal incision surgery, to perform limb lengthening.
For more than 20 years, Dr. Rosenfeld has been an active staff member at CHOC Hospital in Orange and CHOC at Mission Hospital. He has provided leadership expertise and has served as president of the medical staff at CHOC, as well as leadership roles in the Pediatric Orthopedic Society of North America, American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons, Spina Bifida Association, Muscular Dystrophy Association, and Clinical Faculty Department of Orthopedic Surgery at UC Irvine.
A highly regarded physician in his field, Dr. Rosenfeld is consistently named a “Physician of Excellence” from the Orange County Medical Association. Dr. Rosenfeld is affiliated with Adult and Pediatric Orthopaedic Specialists Medical Group, American Medical Association, Orange County Medical Association, California Medical Association, California Orthopaedic Association, American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgery, Western Orthopaedic Association, American Academy for Cerebral Palsy and Developmental Medicine, Society for Research into Hydrocephalus and Spina Bifida, American Orthopaedic Association and the Association of Children’s Prosthetic-Orthotic Clinics.
Dedicated to clinical excellence, Dr. Rosenfeld is board certified in orthopaedic surgery. He received his medical degree from the Pennsylvania State University College of Medicine. He completed an internship in general surgery at UC Irvine Medical Center followed by a residency in orthopaedic surgery at UC Irvine Medical Center. Dr. Rosenfeld served his fellowship in pediatric orthopaedic surgery and rehabilitation at Rancho Los Amigos National Rehabilitation Center in Downey, CA.
