CHOC Children's is pleased to announce that pediatric surgeon John German, MD, was named the "2009 Person of Honor" by the Orange County Ronald McDonald House, a "home-away-from home" for families with seriously ill children receiving treatment at nearby medical facilities. Dr. German was recognized for his years of service to the pediatric medical community at the organization's 20th annual High Tea and Fashion Show, held on October 23rd at the Balboa Bay Club & Resort in Newport Beach.
Dr. German earned his medical degree from the University of California, Irvine, where he also completed his internship and residency. He finished a two-year pediatric surgery fellowship, with training at Children's Hospital Los Angeles, Hospital for Sick Children in London, and LA County-USC Medical Center. He is board certified in general surgery, pediatric surgery and critical care. Dr. German joined the CHOC medical staff in 1975.
This recent honor by the Orange County Ronald McDonald House joins a list of others bestowed upon Dr. German, who is active in the community. In 2004, he was named "Humanitarian of the Year" by the Soroptomist Club of Orange County.
