ChocoWe Need You!

Are you energetic, enthusiastic, and love working with kids of all ages? Then we need you to voluteer to be Choco!

Our beloved mascot makes appearances at special events in the hospital and in the community.

 

 

 

Essential duties/responsibilities/qualifications:

  • Be Cheerful
  • Be Energetic
  • Must be 5'1" to 5'5" in height.
  • Be available for several shifts of 15 minutes in length over approximately 1 to 1 ½ hours time period. Must arrive at least 30 minutes earlier than scheduled event time.
  • Must be mature and interact with the children in a playful manner.
  • Will not speak and only use gestures to communicate.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Dance, gymnastics or theater training is an asset for this role.

Physical demands and work environment:

  • Costume is heavy and hot at times. Volunteer must wear comfortable clothing and shoes.
  • Costume has limited visibility.
  • While wearing costume, volunteer should be aware of the possibility of dehydration and take responsibility for drinking plenty of water and taking rest breaks as needed.

CHOCO Bear is escorted at all times by a "handler" for CHOCO's safety and crowd control.

Please note: To perform the role of Choco at events held on the hospital campus, you must submit a volunteer application and go through our volunteer program, which includes screening and training. Off-campus events do not require a volunteer application or training.
