DR. MINON'S STORY

A native of Buenos Aires, Argentina, and naturalized citizen of the United States, Dr. Maria Minon currently serves as CHOC?s Vice President of Medical Affairs and Chief Medical Officer, a position she has held since 1998. In this capacity, Dr. Minon works to facilitate the activities of the medical staff, quality assurance, medical education and pediatric residency programs, clinical and research departments. Her lengthy affiliation with CHOC also includes service on the hospital's Board of Directors for three years.

Dr. Minon has made a strong commitment to helping the community through her involvement in numerous community organizations. Among other endeavors, she has served as president of the Orange County Medical Association and was a member of the their Board of Directors, has been a member of The Ronald McDonald House Board of Trustees since 1998, was elected as a member of the House of Delegates for the California Medical Association (CMA) and is currently a member of the CMA Board of Trustees. Dr. Minon began serving on the Latino Health Access Board of Directors in 2004. She has served as President of the local chapter of the American Academy of Pediatrics and on a host of committees with various other medical and community organizations.

But one of Dr. Minon's most important commitments is her benevolent support of CHOC, for which she received the 1998 Charley Hester Award, honoring her exemplary philanthropic support and service to CHOC and CHOC at Mission. "As Chief Medical Officer, I have learned first-hand how important philanthropy is to the life of this exceptional hospital, and I felt it my responsibility and my duty to contribute to CHOC," says Dr. Minon. "We have the privilege of being located within an affluent county dedicated to continuous growth and development, yet many people do not realize the vital importance of charitable contributions in keeping our doors open. As a non-profit facility, we rely on the community to help CHOC remain the leader in pediatric healthcare for Orange County and beyond. The generosity of both individuals and corporate partners and a willingness to assist in our charitable efforts truly has a direct and lasting impact on the young patients we serve."
