One doesn?t have to be able to see to have a vision of their future. For Cianna, this has been a reality since the third grade. Diagnosed with bilateral optic atrophy, her eyesight will deteriorate, but she can still see what the future might bring. She loves working with children and hopes to be an occupational therapist at CHOC. She's getting some hands-on experience while in occupational therapist Wayne Centra's karate class, where she enthusiastically assists a classmate who is blind. As an active member of the CHOC youth advisory council, Cianna helps nurses understand what patients may be thinking during their stay and has been active in raising funds and awareness for the hospital's Radio Lollipop program. Cianna doesn't let her poor vision interfere with envisioning a bright future for CHOC and CHOC's patients!
