For CHOC OICU Charge Nurse Christine Magnus, the battle for her life led her to a new calling. Christine had been working as an ER nurse, when one day she was diagnosed with Non-Hodgkin's Lymphoma. After a year of aggressive treatment, she was pronounced cancer-free in 2003. Her career took a direction that she had never considered before, working with children, which brought her to CHOC. Since then, Christine has helped set up a new program "Working Against Cancer," matching cancer patients with mentors to help them through the tough road ahead. The mentors, like Christine, are proof for CHOC cancer patients, that they can beat the disease.
