Nathan was one of only a few children in the United States diagnosed
with an adult form of cancer. The malignant tumor on his face was so
rare that no standard treatment was yet available. Fortunately, Orange
County's only dedicated pediatric hematology and oncology unit was
close
by. The medical experts at Children's Hospital of Orange County
created
a treatment aggressive enough to eradicate the cancer from his body,
but
gentle enough for the six-year-old to tolerate. Today, Nathan's face
is
fine. And so is his outlook on life.
