It all started with a little fever. Harmless enough at first, but when the days passed and Sophia's fever didn't, her parents began to worry. After other specialists struggled for answers, she was referred to Children's Hospital of Orange County. Our team of experts found that Sophia was born with an extremely rare and aggressive disease that caused her own immune system to literally attack itself. She immediately began rigorous chemotherapy treatments. Then Sophia's father donated his bone marrow for a desperately needed transplant. Today, Sophia the Strong is in remission and back to being the happy , healthy, carefree two-year-old she was meant to be.
