JESSE'S STORY

On January 18, 2007, 18 year-old Jesse Zweig attempted to run 200 miles non-stop around Orange County. The cross-country and track athlete from El Toro High School ran 100 miles in under 24 hours just six months earlier, and raised more than $6,000. This time, he planned to double his distance and raise even more money for CHOC. He set his fundraising goal at $20,000.

Although cold weather and injuries caused Jesse to cut his run short, he received national recognition for his efforts. As his story unfolded, donations began pouring in to CHOC. People were inspired by his tenacity and his courage, and while he may have fallen short of his distance, he well surpassed his goal.
