Our Commitment to Pediatric Research
Clinical trials increase treatment options for children for whom conventional therapy has failed, or who have conditions for which no standard therapy is available. CHOC is proud to have committed, highly-trained subspecialty physicians, certified clinical research coordinators, research nurses, administrators and ancillary staff to ensure that all research activities protect patient's rights, are conducted according to approved scientific protocol, and comply with federal and state regulations.
Currently CHOC is involved with numerous ongoing clinical trials, specifically in the areas of infectious disease, critical care, endocrinology, pulmonology, oncology, hematology, rheumatology and gastroenterology. Current clinical research protocols examine the safety and effacy of new medications, vaccines and devices, and include quality of life assessments developed in a on-going effort to address the physical and emotional needs of our pediatric patients.

Through our Children’s Oncology Group (COG) membership, CHOC received a prestigious Phase 1 clinical trial designation, making us the only facility in the Southwestern United States—and one of only 21 in North America—able to offer these alternative, experimental treatments.
