Children with Down syndrome face many medical challenges. These can include heart defects, digestive diseases, as well as skin, hormone and vision problems.
To help meet these childrens wide range of needs, CHOC Childrens recently launched the CHOC Childrens Down Syndrome Program-An Alliance with the Down Syndrome Association of Orange County.

Glass Slipper Guild Pledges $1 Million to Neuroscience Institute

In January, the CHOC Glass Slipper Guild pledged $1 million to create a
research endowment for the CHOC Neuroscience Institute. So far, the guild
has raised $260,000 toward their five-year goal.

Henry Klassen, M.D., PhD., a senior scientist in the CHOC neuroscience
research lab, co-authored a paper published in the July issue of the peerreviewed
journal Stem Cells showing for the first time that stem cells from
the central nervous system are not rejected when transplanted.
